What is the 2022 Climate Positive Leaders Program?

Corteva Agriscience’s 2022 Climate Positive Leaders program is a nomination-based farmer and rancher recognition program designed to uplift the voices of early adopter producers who are implementing, scaling and sharing climate positive practices. The program will give the global and regional winners a large megaphone to broadly share their experiences advancing climate positive practices.

Who is eligible for the program?

The program focuses on growers in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, France, Australia, India, New Zealand and Kenya. Entrants must be 21 years or over and have implemented at least three climate positive practices on 10 percent of their operation.

What climate positive practices qualify?

Climate positive practices vary based upon a number of factors. This program welcomes all climate positive practices with justification. Practice examples include:

  • Nutrient management
  • Integrated crop and livestock operations
  • Conservation tillage
  • Cropping systems that support carbon capture (double cropping, cover crops, continuous cover, etc.)
  • Soil amendments (examples include biochar, compost, clay, biologicals, etc.)
  • Erosion control structures
  • Buffers
  • Bioreactors
  • Terraces/Waterways
  • Irrigation
  • Direct air capture / other carbon capture technologies
  • Grazing management
  • Crop species diversity
  • Other (with justification that the practice has climate positive impacts)

What will the winners receive?

Global Leaders will receive a lifetime membership in the Global Farmer Network (GFN) and travel to participate in person in a Global Farmer Roundtable & Communications Training. The training includes a facilitated dialogue among global farmers, using English as a common language, to better understand and address the challenges of filling an increasing food and nutritional security gap.

Upon completion, Leaders will have opportunities to work with other global influencers on current issues in food, feed, fiber and fuel production, as well as receive support to create their own Virtual Farm Tour Video.

Regional Leaders will receive a virtual GFN Farmer Communication Training Master Class, offered in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. They will also be recognized as a Global Farmer Network Fellow.

Global Leaders and Regional Leaders will have opportunities to engage with business, research, agronomy and agriculture leaders around the world, along with a broad global platform to share their experience and climate positive practices with other farmers.
