Michigan Farmer Claims Top Yield in National Corn Growers Association Contest with Pioneer Hybrid

JOHNSTON, IA — Pioneer congratulates farmers who placed in the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) 2018 yield contest. In total, the NCGA awarded seven national and 189 state awards to growers using Pioneer® brand products who entered the annual yield contest. Results of its annual contest were announced by NCGA yesterday.

“Advances in our corn research program are bringing a higher rate of genetic gain to customers. This, combined with increased local testing, is helping farmers achieve maximum productivity,” said Judd O’Connor, President, U.S. Commercial Business, Corteva AgriscienceTM, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont.

Don Stall, a Michigan farmer using Pioneer hybrid P0574AMTM, had the highest yield of all participants in the 2018 contest, posting a yield of 477.7 bu/A.

The NCGA Corn Yield contest is an annual United States-based competition among corn growers, designed to highlight the genetic yield potential of modern corn hybrids. Farmers compete in six corn production classes, including non-irrigated (A and AA), no-till/strip-till non-irrigated (A and AA), irrigated and no-till/strip-till irrigated classes. The AA Non-Irrigated Class is open to corn producers entering a hybrid located in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio or Wisconsin. The A Non-Irrigated Class is open to any corn producer in the continental United States outside of the AA class.

“We want to congratulate the winners for all they accomplished this year,” O’Connor said. “We look forward to seeing what our customers can do in each unique growing season.”
