Product Promises Advanced Control With Selectivity, Pending Registration

INDIANAPOLIS — Although Corteva Agriscience is a relatively new name, the company behind it has a long legacy of delivering herbicide innovation to the Vegetation Management (VM) industry. That continues today as Corteva announces the name of its anticipated flagship broadleaf and brush control product for this market, TerraVue herbicide.

Following the submission of the label for GF-3886 to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the announcement that the product will be called TerraVue marks the next step in bringing this new innovation to the VM industry.

“Multiple years of testing with TerraVue show an exceptional blend of broad-spectrum weed and brush control with selectivity to desirable plants,” said John Kalthoff, Marketing Category Lead, Land Management, Corteva Agriscience. “For vegetation managers, that means better return on investment in the form of reduced maintenance costs as grasses, forbs and other low-growing species serve as an effective natural defense against incompatible trees and woody brush.”

Pending EPA registration, TerraVue is expected to control more than 140 broadleaf weed species, as well as multiple woody plant species. Powered by Rinskor active, recipient of the 2018 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, TerraVue will also feature:

  • Low use rate
  • Low-odor formulation
  • Ability to use on grazed areas
  • Flexibility across use sites
  • Season-long residual control
  • Low volatility
  • Safety to desirable grasses, forbs and shrubs

“The selectivity we’ve seen in testing TerraVue also serves to promote biodiversity in managed areas,” said Kalthoff. “Research has shown that selective herbicide applications are effective in establishing and maintaining early successional plant species, making these areas attractive to wildlife, such as birds, deer and pollinators.”

The anticipated addition of TerraVue herbicide as the centerpiece of an already robust portfolio of VM herbicides from Corteva will provide vegetation managers with almost unlimited flexibility in how they manage use sites.

“Our commitment is to continue to lead Vegetation Management with the innovation needed to effectively manage the entire range of industry use sites,” said Damon Palmer, US Business Leader, Pasture and Land Management, Corteva Agriscience. “We partner that innovation with the dedicated support of our nationwide team of VM specialists, field scientists and market development specialists to ensure our partners achieve their individual goals.”

Corteva Agriscience anticipates TerraVue herbicide to be available to vegetation managers during the 2020 use season.
