What is the Scope of this Privacy Notice?

This California Privacy Notice (“California Notice”) provides the information regarding Corteva Agriscience™ and its affiliates (“we”, “us”, “our”, or “Corteva”) use of Personal Information of California residents required under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and supplements the information contained in the Corteva Privacy Statement.  In the event of a conflict between the Privacy Statement and this California Notice, this Notice will prevail for California residents and their rights under the CCPA. 

As used in this California Notice, “Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly, or indirectly, with a California resident or household. Personal information does not include: 1) publicly available information that is available from federal, state, or local government records, and 2) deidentified or aggregated information.

Sources of Personal Information

We may collect Personal Information from a variety of sources including:

  • Information you provide through your interactions and communication with us, retailers, distributors and sales representatives.  For example, when you sign up for a newsletter, register an account to access services, make an order or purchase, apply for credit, make a request, register your purchase of a product, submit a warranty card, or interact with a chat feature.
  • From your interactions with our online sites, applications, mobile apps, blogs and social media platforms.  For example, if you connect your social media account to our services account, you may share certain Personal Information from your social media account with us including your name, email address, photo, list of social media contacts, and any other information that may be or you make accessible to us.  
  • When you visit our facilities or attend one of our trade shows.
  • When you participate in a contest, promotion, sweepstakes, survey or other promotion.
  • From our third-party service providers and business partners such as those providing support for customer service, web hosting, marketing, communications, event planning, data analytics and financial services. 
  • From publicly available databases and other third-party sources’ publicly available databases.

Purposes for Collecting Personal Information

We and our service providers use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • To maintain or service accounts, verify customer information, provide customer service and respond to your inquiries, process or fulfill orders and transactions.
  • To provide financing, fulfillment services, process payments, dispute resolution, collections, risk management and fraud prevention.
  • To send administrative information to you such as changes to our terms, conditions and policies.
  • To send you marketing-related communications with information about our services, new products, and other news about Corteva.
  • To offer you the opportunity to participate in a sweepstakes, contests or other promotions.
  • To develop and deliver marketing and other promotional communications tailored to your interests and analyzing or predicting our user’s preferences in order to prepare aggregated trend reports on how our digital content is used so we can improve our services and offerings.
  • For legal and regulatory compliance, including uses and disclosures of Personal Information required by law or for compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as for compliance with civil, criminal, judicial, or regulatory inquiries, investigations, subpoenas, or summons.
  • To exercise or defend the legal rights of Corteva and its officers, directors, employees, customers, contractors and agents and for dispute resolution.
  • For corporate governance, including corporate accounting, audit, analysis and reporting, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
  • To protect the security and integrity of systems, networks, applications and data, including detecting, analyzing and resolving security threats, communicating with law enforcement and information security consortiums, debugging services or systems, identity management including verification and authentication for systems and technology.
  • For system administration, technology management, including optimizing our online sites, applications and mobile apps and data analytics.
  • For premises security, safety and loss prevention, detection and prevention of fraud and other illegal activity.
  • For business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • For research for technological development, to design, maintain or improve the quality or safety of our products, services, and programs.

Does Corteva “Sell” your Personal Information?

As defined in the CCPA, we do not “sell” and have not sold your Personal Information in the last 12 months. We do not knowingly “sell” the Personal Information of minors under the age of sixteen.

Corteva may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you are online. Please see our Cookies and Similar Technologies Policy for a description of third-party cookies and choices you have regarding these cookies. 

Your Rights and Choices

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to request that we:

  • Disclose to you the following information covering the 12 months preceding your request:
    • The categories of personal information we collected about you and the categories of sources from which we collected such personal information;
    • The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you;
    • The business or commercial purpose for collecting personal information about you; and
    • The categories of personal information about you that we otherwise shared or disclosed, and the categories of third parties with whom we shared or to whom we disclosed such personal information (if applicable).
  • Delete personal information we collected from you.

You may make such a request here, or by contacting us in accordance with the “Contacting Us” section below. We will respond to your request consistent with applicable law.

Right to Notice/Know

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request that we disclose to you the following information covering the 12 months preceding your request:

  1. the categories of Personal Information we have collected about you,
  2. the categories of sources from which your Personal Information was collected,
  3. the business or commercial purpose for which we collected your Personal Information,
  4. the categories of third-parties with whom we have shared your Personal Information,
  5. the categories of Personal Information that we have shared for a business or commercial purpose and for each category identified, the categories of third-parties to whom we disclosed that particular category of Personal Information.

Right to Deletion

If you are a California resident, you also have the right to request that Corteva delete the Personal Information that we have collected directly from you. Under the CCPA, there are some situations where we are not required to delete your Personal Information, such as when the information is necessary in order to complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected, to provide a good or service requested by you, to comply with a legal obligation, to engage in research, to secure our websites or other online services, or to otherwise use your Personal Information internally in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information. We may ask you to confirm your request before we delete your Personal Information. 

Right Not to Be Subject to Discrimination

You have the right to be free from unlawful discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights under the CCPA.

California Shine the Light

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents who provide personal information in obtaining products or services for personal, family, or household use may request and obtain from us once a calendar year, information about the customer information we shared, if any, with other businesses for their own direct marketing uses. If applicable, this information would include the categories of customer information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared customer information for the immediately prior calendar year (e.g., requests made in 2020 will receive information regarding 2019 sharing).  To request this information, please submit your request to Customer Information Center, Attn: California Privacy Request, 9330 Zionsville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46268. Any such request must include in the first line of the description “California Privacy Shine the Light Request” and include your name, street address, city, state and zip code.

We may update this California Notice from time to time to reflect changes in how we process Personal Information or changes in applicable law. When we post changes, we will change the “Last Updated” date at the top of this to the California Notice.  Depending on the nature of our changes to the California Notice, we may provide notice or obtain consent as may be required by law.
