Controlling high-anxiety weeds with a preemergence soybean herbicide can ensure a weed-free seedbed at planting.
Research in 43 trials across 15 states documented greater than 90 percent control for several high-anxiety, glyphosate-resistant weeds. Labeled rates of Sonic® herbicide consistently control common weeds, such as morningglory, velvetleaf, waterhemp and prickly sida.
The residual control offered by Sonic manages weeds well into the season. Four weeks after application, efficacy rates remained strong for some of soybean growers’ most troublesome weeds. According to the multisite research trials, Sonic provided 93 percent Palmer amaranth control, 98 percent waterhemp control, 98 percent morningglory control and 93 percent lambsquarters control.
Surveil® herbicide is another option for soybean growers battling hard-to-control broadleaf weeds. According to Dow AgroSciences’ research trials from 2013 to 2015, four weeks after an application of 2.8 ounces per acre of Surveil, common waterhemp remained 97 percent controlled, Palmer amaranth was 92 percent controlled and lambsquarters was 85 percent controlled.
