Dried Strawberries With Illustrated Candy Wrappers

I try to eat healthy regularly — try being the key word in that statement. When I’m on the run or in the office I usually muster the willpower to choose a nutritious snack like fresh fruit or a veggie and hummus.

Now, like everyone else, my daily life has changed. I am at home and trying to limit trips to the grocery store. This means I try to buy as much fresh produce as I think I can use at once. Since it’s strawberry season, I always add strawberries to my cart.

Strawberries have been a favorite food of mine since I was a toddler. I remember my mom telling me I was going to turn into a strawberry because it was the only thing I would eat at times. But strawberries aren’t just seasonal and delicious. Looking to boost your immune system through your diet? Strawberries can help with their high levels of antioxidants.

Though strawberries are good in so many ways, including frozen, I found a way to make them last longer by turning them into candy! Better yet, the recipe also satisfies my sweet tooth I’m starting to get being at home all day.

Dried Strawberry Candy Recipe

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Rinse your fresh strawberries with water. This works well with strawberries going bad, as this extends their life another week.
  • Place whole strawberries on a cookie sheet. If you have parchment paper or a reusable silicone baking sheet, I recommend using it.
  •  Bake strawberries for two hours.
  • Flip strawberries and bake two more hours. You will notice them starting to flatten slightly.
  • Enjoy your newly made strawberry candy.

Using fun recipes like this can extend the shelf life of your produce while you’re trying to buy in bulk. For this recipe, I found you can store your strawberries in a container in the refrigerator. Good luck and stay safe!
