For nearly 100 years, Corteva Agriscience has worked side-by-side with farmers around the world to provide seed products and management recommendations to enable farmers to be more sustainable and productive. Increasing yield potential, protecting against diseases, pests and weeds, and developing new food, feed and fuel solutions will benefit farmers, consumers and our planet.

Safety

All the seeds in Corteva’s portfolio – corn, soy, canola and sunflower – and the breeding technology used to create each variety are subject to oversight by relevant regulatory bodies, including the U.S. USDA, EPA and FDA, and equivalent regulatory authorities overseas. We maintain complete transparency on the breeding methods we used to develop our products, both with regulators and the public.

Corteva uses techniques such as selective breeding, genetic modification and CRISPR gene editing to enhance the seeds farmers use to grow the food we eat and the grain used to feed livestock. These techniques result in plants with desirable traits, including disease resistance, insect and weed control, and drought resistance. Our seed innovations are designed to maximize farm productivity and sustainability.

During the development process, our seed products undergo a thorough regulatory process to ensure they do not pose any threat to human health or the environment. Requirements differ among individual countries, but to ensure global regulatory compliance, we put all seed products through extensive testing in our research labs, greenhouses, as well as in field trials.

At the end of the day, agricultural innovations must bring value to growers and society, which is why companies are very thoughtful about the products they develop. Every new solution must be better than the product it seeks to replace, and it must meet the growing demand for innovative and sustainable crop protection products.
