Stewardship

Our commitment to product stewardship

We are committed to making health, safety and environmental protection an integral part of the design, production, marketing, distribution and use of our products. From discovery and development of a product to its delivery and use in the market, we ensure good stewardship practices are in place every step of the way.

stewardship

Guiding Principle

We have adopted principles to guide decision-making as we apply biological knowledge and techniques to develop products and services that will benefit our customers, shareholders, and society.

Best practices

Our stewardship efforts encompass the needs of those who produce and those who consume.  We are dedicated to executing strategies and delivering innovations to provide safe and reliable food as well as continuing efforts to protect the environment for generations to come.

Compliance in field trials

We are committed to responsible management of field trials and have implemented quality systems and practices to safeguard the environment and public health. Field trials using plants derived from biotechnology provide the opportunity for scientists to gather information and assess environmental interactions and agronomic performance. This information is used in the evaluation and registration of products. Field trials are conducted under the supervision of official regulatory agencies. We have implemented standard operating procedures for each stage of field trials, from transport and storage, to the management of the test group harvest, disposal of materials, and monitoring of lots after harvest.

Besides supporting industry efforts to promote the responsible development of biotechnology products, CropLife International has developed documents on compliance in field trials to promote the safe handling of them.

Responsible policy for launching new products

Corteva Agriscience is committed to introducing new biotech products to market responsibly. As a member of CropLife International (CLI), we support the policy Launch Product Manager BIO and Guide Release Product Manager CLI. We are committed to conducting a market analysis and complying with the regulatory requirements of countries that produce or import seed or products of new biotech products before marketing. We work transparently with stakeholders regarding the implementation of this policy.

Excellence through stewardship

Corteva Agriscience is proud to be a founding member of Excellence Through Stewardship® (ETS), a non-profit educational organization established to promote the responsible management of plant biotechnology, primarily by developing and encouraging implementation of product stewardship and quality management practices and by educating the public about these practices. ETS is the first industry coordinated initiative to provide stewardship and quality management programs for the full plant biotechnology product life cycle.

As a member of ETS, we are committed to:

  1. adhering to the ETS stewardship objectives, principles and management practices
  2. assisting in the development and dissemination of guides to understanding and implementing stewardship and quality management systems, and
  3. having independent third-party stewardship audits of its plant biotechnology activities.

Through the ETS initiative, Corteva Agriscience and the other members intend to promote the responsible use of agriculture biotechnology, the continued global adoption of plant biotechnology, and the enhanced value of biotechnology-derived plant products in the market place.
